Hoping an apiarist is lurking in the shadows and provide info on what type of bees these are. I've been calling them "Honey bees" and have been told they have a specific name. They are hanging around our Rose of Sharon.

TIA

I believe they are honeybees. Wasps are yellow and black a ornery, the same as a wasp. I work in a garden center. And I have honeybees that swarm around the flowers, as I am watering
I have never been stung even when I have accidentally gotten them wet. It just seems to be a mutual situation of them knowing I am giving the plant water so they can keep taking pollen. It is really something nice to be able to co-habitate with them.

Good to hear, Bill and these never bother anyone in our yard. This afternoon was the first time this year I tried photographing them and I was right in among them!!

The color scheme on these two bees is different, indicating they are different varieties of honeybee. The second one has the coloration of the bees I’ve always known as honey bees in this area. The other has more black coloration which I haven’t seen around here.

Thanks Stan...that is what I was wondering...are they different bees. When you Google bees, the variety is mind boggling and confusing. Being in a somewhat agriculture area where bees are used to pollinate, was hoping someone familiar (apiarist) with bees could identify.
