Three Women in Ultraviolet and Infrared

Three women in 330nm ultraviolet.
Three women in 780nm infrared.

Both images were made with:

Nikon D850M-FS
Nikkor UV 105mm
LLC 330nm filter
LLC 780nm filter

The UV lens is actually quite good throughout a range of 290nm-1000nm - unfortunately its depth of field is thin even in visual wavelengths. Its a fully APO lens from 300nm-700nm - which might have something to do with it.

do you have any which didn't use either of the filters? it would be good to compare them. is there a way to achieve the same in PS?

Yes I do.

There isn’t any way to get the effect in PS. It’s too dependent on UV and IR wavelength interactions with the skin. A CGI system could simulate it.

Choke, gag, cough, how unclean... Photo-shop... it is claimed that PS will even cure COVID!!! Is nothing sacred to PS people?! Your pseudo name speaks legends.. Tox as in Toxic!! Have you no shame???

First of all, recognize that PS is an antiquated program that is held afloat by Mythology and Elitism... as tho a religion. Perhaps the better question would be is there a way of editing a regular photo to achieve a similar look? This opens a world of editing programs and plugins. Most edit programs, unlike PS, do not send thugs around monthly for a tribute as tho a "protection racket" NYC Mafia.

If you must, I cringe, try converting to B&W, perhaps Topaz B&W2 using Platinum. Then in the editing program go to image and negative image and swap white for black. or... Perhaps the other-way around swap and then use BW2. Good luck... in this unsavory venture.

I’m having trouble understanding the point of your reply. Why did the question you replied to trigger such a rant against PS? Are you complaining about PS, or photo editing software in general? if you are unhappy with PS, you are not being forced to use it. Others (apparently a LOT of others) like it.

Just curious - do you think that if such editing software was available to, say, Ansel Adams or Scavulo, that they wouldn’t embrace it? Adams always insisted, paraphrasing now, that the “magic” occurred in the processing, not in the camera. His career was built on and his legend was cemented by his post processing techniques and abilities. His methods were just more crude than those available today.

No makeup involved - everyone looks like this in UV and IR.

I hope you will forgive me on this one. I performed a single shot HDR effect and colorization in Photoshop on your Super UV shot to see what it would look like. Never seen anything like it.

Neither have I —- its vaguely reminiscent of solarization. It’s very different.

And many on here would be happy to polish those bronzes daily! I like the look you achieved.
