This year the fish run was lower than normal. Bears would attempt to steal fish from each other. This sequence shows two bears arguing over remaining parts of a fish. The lighter colored bear caught the fish, and the blood on his nose is from the fish.

They were evenly matched in size and strength. The chocolate bear eat what remained of the fish so from that aspect he won.

They can inflict significant damage. Often bears will have visible damage to their hides from fighting.
