Harpers Ferry
C & O Canal Harpers Ferry
The Oliver House in the Cove 2009
Nice work lensmanicu...I always wondered what Harpers Ferry looked like. That's the place where John Brown made his final stand in the fight against Slavery. He raided the Federal Armory there but was later captured by Union Troops. Sadly he was tried for treason and hung. I spent some time living in Kansas where John Brown was from and he is still considered a hero by the folks of that State.
Anyway, below are a couple of historical places I've photographed. First is Ryman Auditorium here in Nashville. It was originally open in 1892 as a church for The Tabernacle Union Choir. Then in 1943 it became the home of the Grand Ole Opry for 31 years till the new Opry House opened in 1974. It's a hard building to shoot because it's downtown and now surrounded by skyscapers. I got as far away as I could for this shot, but ran into buildings across the street...so It's hard to get the whole building. Sorry there's not much nature in this photo, pretty hard to do surrounded by concrete.
Next is "The Hermitage". This is the home of Andrew Jackson our 7th President. The house in it's current form was completed in 1835. This shot is of the back of the house. I couldn't get a good shot of the front because President Jackson had evergreen trees planted in his front yard and they now conceal it until your right up on it. Andrew Jackson is also currently on the $20 dollar bill.
Cool thread lensmanicu...hope others join in.

Thanks for showing us Tom, visiting the Battle Field of Shiloh is on my list of places to see.
James,
You need to also visit Corinth to fully understand the scope of the battle of Shiloh.
The rail crossroad was the reason Grant needed to take the area over.
The Visitor's center in Corinth is beautiful.
