Hi group,
I must be missing something when viewing Google & YouTube. I'm trying to connect my smartphone camera (Samsung S7) to my TV or other hdmi device. I purchased a USB to HDMI adapter, plugged in the hdmi cable to the TV and phone - nothing. I looked through the camera settings and didn't find anything that looked like an hdmi on/off switch. So, I got (borrowed) a second USB to HDMI adapter thinking something was wrong with mine but I got the same results - nothing. Any ideas? Your thought would be appreciated. Take care & ...

Check your TV remote "input" to make sure your HDMI1,2,3,4 plus is selected.
Hi Al: from the TV menu, HDMI 1, HDMI 2 and HDMI 3 will pop up and you have to select the right one as your other devices like Amazon Stick or Roku e.g. may have occupied one of the three already. Scroll down and click the unoccupied one and you are good to go.

Set the TV source to the correct inpuy
The input source is likely the key but if your TV is a smart TV as most are today, bluetooth is always an option.
Some cables/adapters do not pass data, only good for charging. Use cable that came with phone if possible.
Hi Wasabi,
That must be my problem because I check (and re-checked) the TV source as suggested by others and that was not the problem. I don't have an original Samsung mini-USB to HDMI cable; the only cable that came with my phone(s) was the USB charging cable. Thanks for the suggestion. Take care & ...

If it’s HDMI then it’s not gonna be for charging. If you have a smart TV then you can probably just cast it wirelessly. Even without a smart TV if you use Roku or some other wireless service you can probably mirror through that.
I think Samsung makes a proprietary cable that plugs into your phone USB port with a hdmi connection on the other end. It's not a regular conversion cable. I can't remember the name of the protocol name Samsung uses. It also has the ability to charge the phone with a USB power source at the same time. I have one and used it when I had a Samsung phone and it worked very well.
On a Samsung phone, you might have a Setting called "SmartView", which will cast your phone to the TV, if it has the capability built in. If not, there is an Android app called "Play to ChromeCast", and you can cast your phone screen to the TV. I use SmartView all the time between my Samsung Galaxy S8 phone and my Samsung 8 Series 4K HDTV to watch movies or YouTube or baseball games, and the quality is usually outstanding.
(Now, if I could figure out how to do something as easily to cast my laptop to the TV, I would really be somewhere.)
