Can anyone tell me a place to have my Nikon D7000 repaired. It's my "throw around"....and the shutter button was sticking and hard to turn ...now I have to take the battery out to get it to turn off and the shutter button will not activate the shutter.

Nikon is the only authorized Nikon repair. They cut the rest off, go to Nikon or hope the parts you may need are in stock at the place you use. Good luck

The prices are fair and the service and customer support excellent.

You could try Eurotech Camera in Austin, if that's closer to you. The owner, Sorin Marcu, does all of my (ancient) film cameras and lenses. Never had a problem with any of his work.

The 7000 I wouldn’t repair because I used to have focusing error and the focus engine wasn’t strong enough for certain lenses. If you check eBay to read the reviews you getting better ideas about this body

It is possible one or another of the independent repairers can fix your camera. I'm not familiar with D7000, repairs specifically, but in some other cameras a shutter button failure only required a good cleaning and re-lubrication to fix it. It's possible the problem with the power switch is similar and can be fixed just as easily, with no replacement parts needed.

However, if replacement parts are required, it might be a problem. Beginning earlier this year, Nikon will not provide most spare parts to anyone other than their own service centers. So, unless there's a generic replacement part being made or there's a used part available from a donor camera, an independent shop may not be able to make the repair. It might be that your only option is to send it to Nikon Service Center.

It's hard to say for certain what's needed or possible... I'd recommend starting with a repairer near you, so perhaps you can avoid shipping costs and time. Have them look at the camera and advise whether they think they can repair it or you'll need to send it to Nikon.

I agree with Alan. With Nikon's repair parts policies, that confound me, I'd try to find someone close who can "have a look" at the problems. If it's cleaning that will un-stick the switch and button, great. If the technician has the needed parts or can scavenge the parts from somewhere--like old inoperable bodies, then you've solved your problem.

My suspicion is that the repair cost from Nikon plus shipping might lead you to search for a used 7000 or perhaps a newer model that supports your lenses. Check KEH, B&H, Adorama and Roberts. BTW, has a D7200 in the $6-700 range.
