Yesterday I visited the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge on the Great Salt Lake. I will post more photos later, but this set occurred as I was leaving the refuge. I saw a hawk on some prey. I am not a birder, so I cannot tell what bird was the hawk's victim. As I came up, the hawk departed. I then stayed to see if the hawk would return to its business. For fifteen minutes the hawk circled (my attempts revealed I had the speed set too slow for good BIFs). It would land near the prey and then look at me.
It was clear to me that I had better not approach.
As always, downloads are best.

Thanks for looking and commenting.
Nice photos. That hawk is a Peregrine Falcon.
Wow. Mike. That's a young peregrine you caught there. And you said you're not a bird photographer!

Thanks, I appreciate the ID. There were several of these at the refuge that I saw.

I appreciate your kind comment, Chief, but I did not get him either in flight or on his prey. More work to do.
