I recently called Canon to send my camera in for a service. My camera is 6 years old, I thought it was time for a good cleaning and adjustments if any were needed.
Well! I was told my camera was too old and obsolete. They did not have parts for the camera and they would not touch it.
Can someone please help me with a place to send my camera?

Thank you for time,

Arnold Brodsky

If you live near a good camera store, they may be able to do the cleaning.

That seems weird, at only six years old. Which model is your Canon camera?

Which Canon model are you describing? There is too much information you hide for anyone to be of help.

Hello, I am confused as I sent my Canon 5DM2 in for service before my trip to Iceland as a backup to my 5DM4.

They cleaned it for me and told me the shutter count. . . No push back from them at,all. The camera was announced in September 2008.

I would try KEH. I find it hard to believe Canon won’t clean a six year old camera. My guess is they are hard pressed with pressure from COVID-19 problems and they were recently hacked. Try KEH and see what they say. Good luck.

What camera and does something specifically need to be repaired? A general "cleaning and adjustments" is probably unnecessary anyway.

Try Camera Repair Japan (http://camerafix.com/) in Norcross, GA. They repaired a Sigma 180 macro lens (Nikon) focus issue for me that Sigma refused to work on for the same reasons you were given by Canon. Fast turnaround and excellent service... my lens works like new again, I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome.

? for most 'repliers' here.
Why provide an answer at all without the OP providing the information requested? What camera? Not asked--Where did you buy it?

If you reside near Maryland or D.C....there's Strauss Photo-technical Services....I think they're still in business and they repair most all camera equipment. Google them please and good luck.

The last time to OP wandered in here he posted about a Canon SX40. That was in 2018. Hasn't been back 'till now. This place and the whole internet thing can be rather intimidating to some people. Let's keep tossing out suggestions and see if we can help.

The OP wrote that is a 6 year old Canon. Why would m the model make a difference? TIA, Linda

Canon, along with other manufacturers keep parts for a limited time depending on several factors. They have been known to keep parts up to 8 years and allowed service.

The OP made a thread years back concerning a SX40. Models do make a difference in another way. Their low end models (bridge/p&s) are typically replaced and not serviced. A few years back I was having a problem with a Canon SX50's focusing system while still under warranty. They REPLACED it with a SX60 because they did not have any more SX50's and would not service this model.

Sometimes we need to accept what we see as shortcomings. I have a Canon 1DIV which in it's time was a $5000.00 camera back in 2012. If I needed service on this camera, I would have to look for an independent repair shop. Canon will only do a cleaning on this camera at this point.
