Problem updating Lightroom

I’ve been having an issue with Update within Lightroom Classic. When I select Update, I get the message “You’ll need a new app to open this auphd link”. It tells me to Look for an app in the Microsoft Store. When I click on that, it tells me it can’t find one.

I believe the problem started after a Windows 10 update, so I’ve made sure I’m up to date hoping a new update would fix the issue. It did not. I’ve tried changing my standard user to an administrator. No luck. I’ve searched the Adobe forums and have tried the various advice to no avail. I do plan to try Adobe Support next, but also thought a UHH member may have the answer. Have any of you had this problem? And, if so, how did you fix it?

Updates are now managed through the Adobe Creative Cloud application. It exists separately on your computer from Lightroom Classic and the other programs you are subscribing too. It works well.

Try this: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-app-download.html

I was in the process of reinstalling Creative Cloud when I received your message. CC had not been loading....just in an endless cycle of attempting to load. I could previously get there through any of the other apps update function, but that wasn’t working either. So....reinstalling CC seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks for your quick response!!

I have had this issue with other programs. Windows wants you to get things from its app store even though it doesn't have what you want. It took me awhile to realize, I could ignore the do you want to get this app from the store and just install whatever it is I wanted to install. So, see if you can ignore that message.

Installing Creative Cloud can also be tricky if it thinks you are on more than two computers. Basically, all you need to do is log out of one of the computers, so it will install properly on the computer you are working on. In my case, I do have it on multiple computers and do this all the time, but I suspect it could be unusual.

A third solution would be to call or live chat with Adobe. They can be pretty good with these kinds of problems.

Good luck! I know how frustrating this can be. I am especially annoyed with Microsoft and its attempt to redirect every install, to let's go look in our store.

Thank you for your input, but my problem is resolved.

The message could be ignored in that I could continue to use Lightroom, but I could not update it or any of the other products included in my Adobe subscription. I did reinstall CC and now the Update feature is working properly. If that had not worked, I would have contacted Adobe as I indicated in my original message.

I also run Adobe products on multiple machines and am aware of the sign out/sign in process. The only time this has caused me an issue is when one computer died, leaving me signed in on that computer with no way to sign out. A call to Adobe fixed that situation.

And, yes, Microsoft can be annoying. This whole issue started after a Win 10 update!!
