Thanks for your input.

I don't profess to know much about locomotive designations, so I looked up the model numbers painted on the sides of them, and according to Wikipedia, Picture #1,
"The 1,600 hp (1,200 kW) FA-2/FB-2 (along with the FPA-2/FPB-2 variants) was built between October 1950 and June 1956. Finally, the 1,800 hp (1,300 kW) FPA-4/FPB-4, powered by the 251 V-12 engine, was built between October 1958 and May 1959 by ALCO's Canadian subsidiary, Montreal Locomotive Works (MLW).".\
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ALCO_FA)

The locomotives in pictures #'s 2 & 3 have the designation of F40FH (I've attached a better picture of it) and according to Locomotive Wiki (https://locomotive.fandom.com/wiki/EMD_F40PH) under the heading of "Versions"
"EMD F40FH: A re-geared F40PH operated by the Grand Canyon Railway."
It doesn't say how the were re-geared.

I got my Technician in 1991 and General in 2014
I have never been able to learn cw. I can't seem to pick out the different sounds.
I possibly wouldn't have become a ham if they hadn't dropped the requirement.

you can....i'm about up to 5wpm which is very slow.....that was the novice requirement...general was 13 wpm...i passed that one...extra was 20 wpm....no way.....i had to take the advanced test several times before i passed it....i've looked at the extra tests now, and i have no idea what they are about...i'll just stick with my advanced.....73s
