This is a quote from a well respected and long time soldier, Gen Rick Hillier, not a trade advisor like Navarro, in response to a claim he made in a book wherein he states Canada was trying to curry favour with America when it sent troops to Afghanistan to fight in the war on terrorism.
Canada stood with its ally, America, because it was the right thing to do. Article 5 of NATO states that an attack on one member is an attack on all.
Canada’s mission in Afghanistan lasted 10 years and 158 Canadian soldiers lives were lost because we stood by our ally. And the first 4 Canadian fatalities were caused by friendly fire. A US pilot mistook a live fire training exercise as an attack on him.
In response to Navarro’s comments, Gen Hillier said “I heard from so many friends in the United States today who said ‘This doesn’t represent at all what we believe. We don’t know where this came from. Our relationships are incredible and we served together. We’re proud to serve next to Canadian soldiers’”
During the G7 meetings held in Canada, Navarro said of our Prime Minister that there’s a special place in hell for people like him.
Maybe Navarro should stick to his duties as an advisor. Or maybe not say anything at all.

The last sentence gets my v**e. He’s better at shooting himself and the administration in the foot than even Mulvaney.
