I will have more fun after some familiarization with the details.
Welcome aboard, Tom. I second tradio's recommendation to look into Macro.
Welcome. I too am a tennis fanatic, having played, coached, refereed, umpired, directed tournaments, and commented on the game. The knees are fading fast so I am learning to use the camera p[roperly.
I am sending a photo. At least an attempt. I was trying to create a mood and stay dry.
Welcome.
From my earliest shooting, I learned to see in the micro and macro. Look for the big picture/distant subject as well as what's almost underfoot. There is lots to explore and grow your vision.
Don't forget landscapes and vistas also include smaller treasures to be recorded. And a few hours from N. AL is the Mobile/Gulf coast and FL panhandle. Best visits there when avoiding Jun-Sep high heat/high humidity. Lots of birds, dragonflys, beach scenery, good seafood.
Thanks for your thoughts. I am still trying something that appeals to me. Heat and mosquito populations are problems right now. Being 85 limits exposure to heat. All my tennis is played indoors where 76 degrees is the temp.
Indoors brings back memories. I did a lot of that in New Jersey/Pennsylvania/New York, especially in the winter. Like the indoor play, didn't like the high fees. Played a lot of doubles to keep costs down.
Stay well.

My problem now is that everybody is younger than I am.
Same here.
Stay as healthy as possible.
