Jerry you're going to have to explain that to me, a dumb Kiwi. Yes there's a lot going on, I don't get the little girl with an arrow in her back? and thelittle dark haired girl looks to have an explosive with a fuse by her feet? The dog wearing the blue jacket and the man with a wedge of pie? on a string. With all that going on, the empty balloon on a chain doesn't look out of place. What am I missing? Andrew.

Starting at the end - The boy is allergic to string and helium, so he's pulling an uninflated balloon with a chain.

The pie appears in most of his cartoons, along with an eyeball. I'm sure there are elements he added that I didn't notice, but he was just having fun with it. Did you notice the dynamite on the ground next to the little girl?

I don’t know if it’s American SoH, but I struggle to get a smile out of many attempts at humour here.

No, Andrew I don't think you are missing much. I don't find Bizarro comics very funny. But, here is a link to information about all those symbols:

In the 2nd paragraph is info about the number of symbols in each cartoon. The artist has placed a number above and to the right of his name at the bottom of the cartoon. In this case, there are 8 of the listed symbols hidden in the photo.

Some are obvious, some less so.
