The excess tree branches were cloned out with PS. The improved sky was done with Luminar. What do you think.

The cloning out of the branches is pretty obvious in the download, even without enlarging it.

Indeed! However, stick with it. Practice makes perfect.

Well done Dan ...I like both applications. Very clean looking and well-thought-out.

What lighthouse is this and where is it located? I have a photo I took years ago of this same lighthouse and I can't remember where it was.

Thank you.

I think I would let the branches remain. Personal preference.

First image IMHO, does not need any trimming. Otherwise, some clouds could have been added back as the center became bare.

Second image , good decision. The edited photo is better.

The bottom tree scene looks better, and the top LH scene looks better to me. Although I would fade the clouds out more as they approach the horizon for a more realistic atmospheric perspective.

I took a trip in 2018 starting at the door county peninsula of Wisconsin jutting into Lake Michigan. I think this lighthouse was on this peninsula but am not certain. I then drove west all the way to the west coast and drove down through Washington and Oregon and a little of California. I don't remember stopping at any light houses other than this door county one so it must be it. I have shot other lighthouses on the west coast on other trips, two of which I am attaching. I think these were both in Oregon

I shot the tree and rock photo on film on my first trip to Arches National Park in 1996. I scanned it in several years later and did nothing with that for several years. I always liked the composition but the too busy branches bothered me so just for the fun of it I thought I would try cleaning it up by removing some of them to simplify things. I have never printed this photo nor do I intend to, I did it just for my own amusement and enjoyment. I know the clone cleanup isn't perfect but I still have both versions side by side on my computer and I still enjoy them both. My wife has asked me why I shoot all these photos and not do anything with them. I tell her that I do something with them almost daily, I review them over and over and remember the great trips. Its almost like doing the trip again without the travel espense and the exhaustion that travel creates. Thats why I still take frequent photo day trips close to home and will as long as I can.
