Has anyone used the Sigma USB Dock UD-01? Is it worth using it?

Yes and Yes. IF you have a Sigma lens that is compatible with the dock you can update firmware as well as tune. If you are not into tuning, it's still worth having to update firmware.

Totally agree!!! It is also useful for setting custom parameters such as focusing speed and focusing range. Well worth the investment IMHO.

Yes, yes... Having multiple micro-adjustment points thru the dock is great. Cost is minimal.👍👍

What are you hoping to accomplish with the dock and how much effort are you willing to put in? The number of features that can be adjusted depends on the specific lens you'll be using with it. The process to fine tune a lens using the Sigma dock can take a large amount of time, effort, and attention to detail on your part. You also need a tripod and an appropriate target. Many people buy the dock thinking its a magic bullet, but it's not. If you're willing to put in the time and effort to learn how to use it properly, you can get great results. It's not for everyone.

Yes, you can also get firmware updates to your lens which is terrific. However those firmware updates vary by lens and may fix things that provide no specific benefit for you. One of my Sigma lenses had it's last update almost 4 years ago for an issue that did not impact me.

The ease of upgrading lens firmware is worth the price of admission alone. Normally, $60 new, with patience, you can usually find them cheaper thru the used houses like MPB, KEH, B&H, etc.

Check the firmware on your camera as well.

I had some problems with my new Sigma 150-600 on my canon 7Dii. It seemed to work well on my wife's M50 with adapter. On the 7Dii It seemed to like to focus a few inches behind what I wanted it to focus on. I tinkered with adjustments with the dock and did get some improvement. What finally made the lens perform as well as it should was an update to the firmware in the 7Dii. I reset all the adjustments back to factory and now it is great.

Yes and Yes. I was able to correct focusing problems on my 1st 150-600 C lens to perfection on my camera. Then loaned that lens to a friend who promptly ruined it for me by taking it in and out of extreme cold to warm conditions and building up moisture on the lens elements. So, I had to replace it. I bought a new one, and it came out of the box perfect in all of the ranges, and did not need any adjustments for my D850.

I got the Sigma docking station free when I bought my wife her 150-600. I did a update today and the focusing is much faster. Thanks for all the feedback.
