On her 9th birthday i gave my daughter a Nikon D3300 camera with the stock 18-55 lens, a Tamron 70-300 and some add-on macro lenses. I miss the freedom of going around just to take photos, i'm sure it also affects her a lot. She turned 14 in the middle of the Covid lockdown and missed good opportunity. This school year, she was supposed to be their Media Club president but that got suspended as their classes are now online.
Her and some samples of her photography below;
Its not yet fully polished but the kid has a good eye for composition.

Enjoyed every photo. Great gift to give. Happy to see that she continues to use it.
Beautiful girl. What a great gift.
I hope she continues on her photo journey. She has a "good eye".
Very good.
Lots of photo opps inside the house or just around the neighborhood. Many websites have suggestions for projects during COVID.

A great gift. She can learn skills that can last a life time. As did my dad
Very nice Wallen - you got a promising young lady there! Joe
Great gift. Great capture.
I love to see the images young photographers find and choose to capture in their own way. Composition is KING, as proven by these images from your lovely-granddaughter. As an early starter in Photography, I remember both the helpful Processors and my dad's cocked eyebrows when they reviewed and critiqued my photos. The ones worth looking at were often my take on the ordinary. They didn't usually make it to the Extraordinary class, but they got my mentors' attention. I hope her HS career starts soon and she gets as much out of her photography in that context as I did. Not many folks can say they photographed Basketball on the floor of (the old) Madison Square Garden. One of the times my HS Press Pass was worth more than the paper it was printed on.

She is definitely exploring and showing promise.
But most of all, May you see her in person soon.
Brava! That young lady has a photographic future for sure. She has the eye.
I cannot wait to get my granddaughter her first camera. Teach her and encourage her.
