3D Lenticular Prints

When Fujifilm shut down their 3D venture, I picked up a new Fujifilm FinePix REAL 3D W3 camera for under $200. Very nice camera that does the job rather well. The camera screen is lenticular and provides a rather nice 3D display.

Now what's the problem? Fujifilm attempted to have several of their facilities make 3D prints and ship to the customer. Good plan to make more revenue, BUT they did a very poor job and customers were unhappy and just stop using them. All facilities have been closed for some time. Oh yes, they made an overpriced display unit that you could view your 3D images, but it was not very good.

And if you ask, well just show your images on a 3D TV. That does work okay on my 3D capable TV.

We and our friends really want to have prints to view and share.

Do any UHH members have experience with a place that make good 3D lenticular prints?

I have tried a place in NYC, another in NJ, Israel, and Las Vegas. The results were from horrid to mediocre, and these prints were quite costly and frankly a waste of money. I am very familiar with the printing process necessary to make these prints. It requires excellent equipment, careful alignment, and skill. I have a friend who is involved in making these prints and of excellent quality, but only in vast quantities.

Consult your friend for a source in less than vast quantities.

Good idea which of course I did ask him years ago. The "one-off" print world is different than the commercial print world. As I recall, the minimum run at one place was 500 units and the unit price was still very high until you got to 10,000 units as I recall.

A rather nice book on the subject was recently published by Yitzhak Weissman entitled Lenticular Imaging.

Thank you for looking and commenting.

I am in the Detroit Stereographic Society. But we haven't met for 5 months. Someone here should know. This is the email of the International Society: https://www.isu3d.org

Thanks Fotoartist. I'll send an email to them. I was also a participant in the 3D forum for cinematographers for a good while. Mostly the interest was in the cameras and use techniques. The display method was theater screens and viewers had to wear one of several types of glasses to enjoy the 3D effect. Boy, were those folks critical of other's 3D captures and presentation. Hopefully the ISU3D society can give me a lead or two. Appreciate your input.

Asked someone who indulges in various different modes of presentation and he uses these two:

vicgi.com, and snap3d.com
