Mayor Lori Lightfoot defended the Chicago Police Department banning protesters from the block where she lives, citing her right to safety. The Democratic mayor said her family requires heightened security due to threats she receives, but did not elaborate.

“I think that residents of this city, understanding the nature of the threats that we are receiving on a daily basis, understand I have a right to make sure that my home is secure,” Lightfoot said, according to the Chicago Tribune.

After massive street protests, Chicago police banned protests near the mayor’s home. Officers were instructed to arrest anyone protesting near her Logan Square residence.

An unfounded phobia? Surely she should know the only reason they would be in her neighborhood would be to keep her safe. Lets de-fund the police with exceptions??

Even peaceful protesters? There must be a different Constitution for the Left.

As usual you are missing the point. It isn't a matter of whether or not protestors are allowed in the block that Lightfoot lives in. It is that they are using a different standard protecting her than they are protecting other people's livelihoods and property.

Thats hypocrisy of the highest order. She is basically saying that she is more important than her constituents.

When you learn comprehension, I did not say it was the block that was important, Lightfoot and Trump both have the same rules but you only used the Democrat, politics I guess. Or is it because she is female, to be more exact, a black female.
It looks like the only hypocrite is YOU.

It's actually not a different standard. The standard they use is the result of a risk assessment. If there is a clear and present danger then the police would be negligent if they didn't work to neutralize that danger. Try gathering or even threatening to gather in front of Mara Lago while Trump is in residence and see how that goes for you.

Well, it certainly looks like the businesses that are being l**ted and vandalized have a clear threat but she is pulling officers away from the downtown core to protect her place at those people's expense.

They should be protecting everyone the same. Not selectively allowing protests in one place but stopping them somewhere else.

Same as Washington DC. Trump gets same coverage as any B*M protestors. Should protect everyone the same.

Trump is an entire branch of the U.S. government himself, the Executive. He is not merely a resident of the city as a mayor or city inhabitant is.
