UHH ad by canon for R5

The ad in UHH for the R5 is disingenuous. I ordered on 7/25. They sent me the lens adapter immediately. But I've been waiting for almost a month for them to give me a date by which they can give me a date by which they might ship. In other words I don't know if its better to keep hoping in vain for some professionalism to breakout at B&H or go to another vendor and get in the back of that vendor's line.
B&H has been among the best of the NY Camera stores in the past but for the last year or more things seem to be breaking down.

The scheduled release date was July 30, you didn't get on their list until 7/25 - you are way down the list and will have to wait until they get a lot of R5's to ship.

Back when the Tamron 150-600 first came out I was on three major company wait lists. Then the day after release I happened to walk into the local camera store. The were just unpacking their 1st 4 lenses, 2 were pre-sold and the other 2 walked out the door with myself and another guy who was in the store at the time. I went online and canceled my three orders. And to think I had been worried about 2 or all 3 getting to my name at the same time and billing my card automatically.

If you were to take a moment and look at the listing for the R5 on B&H you will see it stated that it is a new item being released in limited quantities. It has nothing to do with B&H, it is all Canon. B&H will fill the orders as it receives the cameras.

People enthusiastically assigning blame, not bothering to educate themselves with pesky facts...

I can't imagine where they are learning this behavior 🙄

Sorry to have created an **** storm but for all of you negates out their you missed the point (or didn't listen to the fact) .........But I've been waiting for almost a month for them to give me a date by which they can give me a date by which they might ship. ....... This is the source of irritation ---nobody can say if I'm first of the list 10th or 10 thousandth. Nobody can say when B&H expects their next order. Nobody can say how many units will be allocated in that order. If I order a 1000 tons of steel to build a building or 10,000 CPUs to build a server farm I don't expect them to be delivered the next day. I do expect an expected delivery date forecast and updates if there are changes to that forecast. It is a hallmark of good business management and good customer relations.

Because they don't know - they will get them when Canon ships them.
Or do you just want to get regular reports of "We don't know!" (or Wild Ass Guess) or a count down: "You are now # 801, you are now #771, you are now 701 - and NO we don't know when we will get another shipment or how many we will get. But one day you will be #1, we just don't know when."

Oh, and you will get the same from all the other large dealers - they can't get Harry Potter to wave his wand and produce cameras or even look into a crystal ball and tell them when they will get them. And Canon can't even do it - hey depend on parts and materials to be delivered and for their employees to not get hit with an outbreak of Covid-19 and they have to shut down their plant. Or one of their suppliers having the same thing happen.

You are the one who missed the point. You are the one who didn’t listen to the facts. B&H doesn’t know when the next Canon shipment of R5s will be. B&H doesn’t knows how many cameras Canon will include in the next shipment. How can they tell you something they don’t know? How can you expect them to be able to tell you something they don’t know. Sure it’s frustrating. But that’s life.
