$775 for camera repair on a camera I just bought (used). That hurts! And my local fix-it shop can't even quote on the repairs because with Canon's website down they can't get part quoted. Even Canon stated there might be an issue ordering parts because of the website. However, the guy I talked to said it was up yesterday, then down again today.
I know, I know, when I get it back, it will be a brand new camera. I just feel like I'm hemorrhaging dollars here!
This is Canon's quote to replace main circuit board in my 1DX.

My condolences.
Thanks, David. I appreciate it.
Sometimes it pays to get a CPS membership. It cost $100.00 a year but you get three free cleanings some goodies first time around, priority repair with free 2 day shipping back and 20% off repairs. I have a gold membership.

I’ve bought 3 NIKON F’s, an F2, F3, FM, F4s and D7200 used and have yet to suffer a failure.
Sorry to hear of the bad luck, but modern cameras seldom fail.

I did get a discount on the labor, but not on the part itself, and that's a huge chunk. Thanks for the tip.

I normally do also on cameras. But I could never have afforded this camera as new, so the used made sense.

Thanks. Nothing is perfect. And it's a wonderful camera. So I know when I've gotten over the financial hit, I'll be happy with it. I got good pictures, even with it not working!

Everything you own is used.
These are tough times for getting almost anything done. I hope you have a spare camera.

Are you familiar with the term; diminished return??
Get insurance. I know your paying out a premium every but !, any camera repair would cost me $0. even if I drop it or it's stolen.
It makes me sick to read this. Sorry for the bad bit of luck.
Hate to hear this news. I've had two expensive repairs because of my own fault. With one I got something in the camera body while changing lenses in the field damaging the shutter curtain and scratching the sensor. With the other one I had to throw on my brakes with the camera sitting on the back seat. The camera's monitor hit a metal part of the front seat shattering the monitor. And that was the same day that I scratched my eyeglasses lens by attempting to toss them into my cap but missed and they skidded across a rock. That was over an $800 outing because of my stupidity.
