I printed out a 8x10 photo on semi gloss paper.Ten minutes later i was cutting off white border only to find the ink was still wet.I ruined the print.So,how long should i wait to handle the print and frame it under glass ?. :-(

Like you i wouldnt havent thought that it was wet after 10 min . Never had that happen to me

What brand of printer and paper did you use? I have an Epson printer and Epson claims that I should only use Epson paper. The paper is specially formulated to work with the Epson inks. Maybe you have a compatibility problem.

I had that problem when I use non kodak paper in my Kodak printer especially semi gloss or mate paper. I would even get wheel mark on the paper as it went through the printer. No problem at all with kodak paper, gloss mate, instant dry

Thanks for the compliment on my parrot Avatar ,his name is Williston Willy and the only parrot out of 24 that is not camera shy.I went and printed another duplicate and 3 hours later the first print was still wet.Time will tell.

Well,I have an HP photo smart 110 printer,the paper is HP every day photo paper:Glossy Brillante.You would think it's compatible.The Glossy paper probable takes longer to dry,but this is a long time.

I use HP supply's ,may be i should use instant dry if they make it.The ink is also HP.The humidity level is low here in Florida today too.

Allow at least 24hrs on glossy paper. Then don't let the print come in contact with the glass, use a mat.

My Epson photos on Epson paper come out of the printer dry. I can't imagine why it takes so long. Maybe you have the printer set to the wrong type paper. I once had my printer set for regular paper, not glossy. It put a ton more ink on the paper and it came out soaked and just sat there. When I changed the printer settings (in the computer) to photo paper glossy, it worked like a charm. Take a look at what type paper you have the printer set for.

There appears to be a printer setting issue. A print sent to a printer with the correct paper type selected and especially if the paper is the same brand as the printer should come out dry to the touch - but not hardened. Within and hour it certainly should be fully dry.

It all depends on the media where the ink is landing. When I print on DVDs, they come out of the printer almost perfectly dry, but the little bit of plastic at the center will remain wet almost forever. The same is true for the edges. I have to dry those areas with a Kleenex.

A few years ago, someone gave me a box of plotter paper. (Remember plotters?). It looked just like printer paper, but the ink would never dry.

I've made it a practice to wait 24 hours ,, just to play safe . When doing a number of photos I'll hang them from a wire . If I only have a few I'll let them set on the table .

It can take some ink/paper combinations 24 hours to allow handling. My usual duo, are Epson Printer, and Ilford Gallerie paper. I leave for 24 hours before handling, trimming etc. Holding only by the edges, and laid out flat to air dry. The prints are touch dry straight from the printer, but why risk damaging the delicate surface of a 'Masterpiece'.

I use 2 Canon printers an A3 and an A4 and prints are touch dry when just out of the printer. I do, on occasions, use Canon paper which is a fine paper and delivers excellent prints.

But I use virtually any paper Gloss, semi-gloss - never use Matte paper - and I still have no problem with wet prints.

You might have a cheap brand which often have a glossy appearance but do not absorb the ink very efficiently.

If I intend to put the picture in a frame with glass I may wait 10 minutes or so to ensure the ink is completely dry as whilst touch dry the under layers could still be wet and cause problems if put in the frame too quickly.
