I was at a city park alongside the railroad tracks when I heard a train coming - when this guy suddenly posed for me. I had an 18-135mm lens mounted for the train - so I took what I could before he flew off {and then cropped to turn a 24mp photo into under 2mp} . I have never seen one of these birds so late in the Summer - I guess they normally hide in the trees.

Thank you for your comment.

As I have already said, this truly was a "catch him while he is here" moment. In a few more seconds, {what turned out to be a boring 'container'} train was on that track you can see in the upper part of the photo. Even in this "no horn" zone, he left in a hurry.

Thank you for your comment - especially since I was ambivalent about taking it.

Honestly, I wasn’t sure this was worth keeping until I loaded on my computer and zoomed way in - and then I was very glad I had clicked the shutter.

I did not realize how neat the picture was until I looked at it on my computer.
He may have moved as I was taking the picture, so I didn't realize what I had until I looked.
It definitely was better than I remembered on the ride home.
