The lenses otherwise okay but when carrying the camera via strap from my shoulder with the lens facing down, the weight of the front of the lens causes the zoom to slide out from 15-85mm by itself.

My other zooms 70/300 and 100/400 do not do that.

Does anyone happen to know if that problem can or should be fixed?

Thanks for all responses,

"Zoom creep" is common and not really a problem, though there might be slightly increased risk to the lens of bumping something when it's extended longer.

You can buy "Lens Band" to stop it.There's even a choice of colors! https://www.adorama.com/lblb.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwsuP5BRCoARIsAPtX_wE2KehP-2zOI_xPvnOZ58_QurObpzIr92oZNYZjRyzD0b53cwLOlscaAvOBEALw_wcB&utm_source=adl-gbase

Or, go to the produce department of your local grocery store and ask them for a couple of the large rubber bands they use to bundle some vegetables together. Free, but no choice of color.

Canon 100-400mm II you can lock in any position or set the amount of friction in any position.

Haven't got one of those. With a 70 - 300 & 400 'L' lenses, I can't justify buying one even though I'm told it's very good.

Interesting. I had to have my Canon 24-105 L repaired for the well known ribbon cable problem. One of the benefits to my surprise was that they fixed the lens creep without charging me. Now that is what I call service.
