Lightroom question

1. I use Lightroom Classic on my Windows 10 laptop to PP. I would like to know can I load Lightroom Classic on my iPod, not the cloud version, and use them both at the same time? By that I mean my iPod when traveling and my laptop at home and the PP gets on both?

2. If I load both Lightroom options on my two devices and I PP on either one will the changes show up on both?

If you mean iPad, if you have the subscription LR you can go to the Creative Cloud and set up your iPad. You will have to designate what goes to your iPad then. I do not know about iPad edits, I do not do that because I have a laptop I carry with me.

1. You can use LrC on two devices at the same time. You do this through the "dashboard" portal on your device. You can change devices at will.

2. No. Each LrC catalog is individual. You can combine catalogs using the "export as catalog" and "import as catalog" function.

I do not use the cloud version of LR. That may be your best bet. Read up on it.

There is an iPad version of Lightroom that synchs with the Classic on your PC. It synchs with your Collections. It has substantial editing capability. It comes with the package.

I am pretty sure you can use it to transfer images from your iPad version to your PC ( Classic) version. I know you can use the cloud version also on your PC to get the images on your iPad version.

Answer to1 No you can not load classic on an IPad as far as I am aware. There is a version designed for mobile devices which an IPad is. Classic is designed for desktop and laptop use. You can however register classic on 2 computers at the same time.
Answer to 2. That is why there is the mobile versions. To allow you to edit on the go by syncing your devices using the cloud. I would suggest reading up on it or watching the many videos out there on it. While not perfect it is pretty good. I will caution you if you start on a laptop or desktop in Classic and then sync to you mobile devices you can use smart previews which take up no space on your cloud account. If you don’t use smart previews or go the other way, upload to your iPad and sync the other way it uses only the full size file and can eat up your cloud storage pretty quickly. So you really want to have a good understanding of the syncing process. So I always import my images to Classic on my Laptop and create smart previews which are then synced to my cloud account that way I have my images available on all my devices.
I hope this helps.

Not to hijack this thread but the OP has opened up a good topic here regarding the full use of the creative cloud subscription. Most posters here only seem to understand how to use classic. I was included in that group until recently. CC allows you so many other opertunities. If you are a subscriber I would suggest watching adobe’s tutorials or some of the many videos on line to fully unlock the full power of your subscription. When you start to unlock all your $10 a month can do you start to realize how inexpensive the subscription is. At least once a week there is a post here on “what is the best way to share my photos with friend?” Or “how do I send photos to a client”. Lightroom CC Is great for sharing and it also gives you a great way to send clients images for proofing so that they can choose and comment. No need to use separate programs or applications you can do it all within Lightroom. My apologies to the OP for opening up this rat hole.

iPod? I think you mean iPad?

(1) you can’t. You have to use the mobile version on the iPad because the LR Classic software is not written for iOS.

(2) If you create a collection in Classic and sync to LR Mobile, then when editing using the mobile version on the iPad the changes will appear in LR Classic. And vice versa.

I have found trying create in mobile, and sync to Classic, is more difficult and requires more steps, And there are some other disadvantages, so I don’t recommend that.

Adobe created LR cloudy as be a separate independent program from Classic, It was not Intended to be an extension.

So where would my ipad added files show up in Lightroom Classic? It doesn’t seem to make new folders but I haven’t checked Collections, which are what are synched.

I’ll give it a test.

(1). You make a collection in classic
(2). Right click on the collection and Sync the collection to LR (mobile)
(3). Right click on the collection and publish it.

The collection will appear on the iPad in LR under albums.

So then I can add ipad images to the Album and they will synch back to Classic?

I think so but, I’m not 100% sure. Going from classic forward to LR is easy. Back is not straightforward so I tend not to do that. But that might work ok. I suggest you Give it a try and find out.

Yes. I tested it. So I’ll make a Collection in Classic and the put any images I want to transfer to PC into the blank album in Cloud and move them into folder in Classic. Didn’t try that last step yet but pretty sure it will work.
