Hi sports fans. Has been awhile. I am so ready for sports to start again. Our local school district is allowing high schools to start preseason workouts. Starts Monday. I have talked to quite a few people ( State High school Sports association, School AD's, District AD's) and still don't know what this means. Our State of Kansas says it will be up to the Leagues and districts to decide. I really have a feeling that we ARE NOT going to have sports. Just a quick thing I had just found out my brother was really sick with cancer and had probably only 6 months. That was August 8th. My nephew texted me and said if I wanted say anything to my brother to text a message and he would let him listen (he really wasn't alert no food or talking)and hospice was there. I did that, and it was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. They live in Florida. Well he passed August 6th. Way to soon, he was 65. Well enough of that. I really need sports to start to take my mind off of all of the turmoil in the world. I shoot for MaxPreps.com and they have started to send out Season Pass badges to their photographer's and they so far only had like 5-6 states that had actually started fall sports and were shipping those badges out now. They will ship the others as the states officially start the real fall sports season's. Quick one have any of you all sports started officially? I hope this all ends soon. I am assuming that being with MaxPreps that I will have a little more access even with Covid going on. Being able to still get onto fields of play on sidelines and shoot closer to the indoor courts of play. Time will tell. They have a lot to decide on before actual play starts. Here are a couple of photos to critique. theses were taken of old windows machine and loaded onto my Mac, testing how they will export etc. Let me know what you think. Everyone please be safe and don't let your guard down. Later

Tom

Hi Tom

PM sent to you.

In Vermont, we are extremely fortunate to, knock on wood, have less devastation than most from Covid. We have less than 1500 cases to date, less than 60 deaths, and a positivity rate of about 1%. Please take into account that our entire state is 620K people, making us the 3 most rural State in terms of population density. Many of you live in cities bigger than this! We kid here that social distancing is keeping a cow between you and the next person.

As for HS and lower grade sports, the HS principle’s association here in Vermont has just announced a limited season for the fall. Certain sports (football) may run with an alternative format (7 on 7 touch), some normal, and some with a few changes to be more Covid-friendly (or technically Covid Unfriendly I think).

My big fall sport, XC, looks like it MAY be impacted more on the meet level than the actual 5k run. We normally travel out of State almost every weekend to big invitationals. this year, the coaching staff is working to balance good competition with protection of the team so that we don’t lose the season. Likely more in-State meets, prevention of team attending to/from even “warm zones”*, and race format changes (head to head 7 person teams run in a time-trial format - 1 starter every minute) might be the rule.

*In Vermont, they track active cases by county within 1 day drive. Free travel to and from, by car, to any county with less than 0.4 cases per 1000 residents. If you come from an area higher than that, automatic 2 week self-quarantine. Tough standard, but this is one reason we are so fortunate at the moment.

We will see. Focus is on delivering a strong team to State and New England championships, what ever that takes.

As for the photography, not sure if I can even attend. Unlike Tom or Jules (and some of you others), I am not good enough for Max Preps, so while I am 1 of 4 team volunteer photographers, we don’t know if we will be able to attend as these may be closed meets to limit exposure On the other hand, with spectators limited, photos more important than ever. Already thinking I may need a longer lens than my normal 70-200

Good luck to you all
