Just ordered a 3TB WD portable hard drive from Target.
It was in their weekly ad that I got in my emails.
The price was $64 and change, less cost than their cheapest 2TB portable HD.
Just a heads up for anyone looking for a portable HD. Don't know how long their ad price is for.

I made that happen because I bought a 2TB WD hard drive last week for about the same price.
You're welcome!

I'm going to Target tomorrow to buy a new card reader; I hope I can resist the temptation to buy the hard drive because I don't need it at this time. Thanks for the heads-up!

Interesting.

My 2Tb internal drive was $120,
but it's a Gold Enterprise drive
with a 2 million hour MTBF.

Also my personal view. I think a manf makes a drive and does QA on it. The good ones become Enterprise with a 5 year warranty, the medium ones become consumer drives with a 3 year warranty, and the low end drives become portable drives with a 1 year warranty (or maybe 3 years or even lifetime but the manf relies on the consumer forgetting all this stuff). And there are rejects.

I just went to their ad and found only 1-T, 2-T and 4-T drives. I'll keep looking because I'm always in the market.

Try looking on their website to see if it is still on sale.
Just do a search for 3,TB portable HD.

Does it require an external power source or is it simply plug into USB?

I wonder how they differ from My Passport Ultra, or if it is just a marketing name change.

I think it's just plug and play most newer portable HDs are that way.

Most all of the pocket drives are USB powered.
