A DRONE?
I thought I read about shooting from a camera.

Well, my DRONE is equipped with a 20MP camera built on a 1" sensor from Hasselblad. I think that qualifies as a camera mounted on a drone.

Hello everybody

I'm currently staying in a vacation home that can only be reached by driving up a rather steep road. All my attempts to take proper picture of said road have fallen flat so to speak, i.e. they do at all show how steep that hill actually is. What's the secret to taking such a picture properly?

Thank you for your help.
Regards
Andy

Are there any adjacent hills you can drive halfway up to shoot from?

Not to be flip or simplistic, Andy, but shoot it (or have it shot) with a drone. It's amazing the different perspectives and compositions that are possible from above.

Best Regards,

BT

The drone might get shot

Quite true!! LOL

Though this is publicized whenever it happens, it is RARE. I have flown over 500 miles (cumulatively), lost 1 drone (maybe due to Government jamming interference), and crashed twice requiring repair, but I have never been shot at (and neither has the drone!).

How about a pic of your drone flying?

Of the four pics submitted later by OP the 3rd and 4th do an excellent job of showing the steep angle. Of those two I personally think #3 is the best. The common factor in both are reference lines created by the sidewalls along the drive. The “stair” effect on the left of pic #3 is especially effective I believe. Many have alluded to including trees to show vertical and I totally agree. However, I don’t think you’ll come up with better shots to show the steepness than #3 & #4.
My $0.02.

Here are some examples from a river trip on Viking.

The wall corner gives a point of reference.

Regardless of the angle of the dangle - those are great pics

Just shoot it from the side and show someone standing next to the car straight and level, to get an idea of the steep grade, or show a tree off to the side. Or stand on the hill, shoot from the side and have someone hold a piece of string with a wait at the end to show level, compared to the angle of the road and car.

Don't know how "wait" got in there, that should have been weight!

Try to capture the difference between vertical and the slope - like a tree from the side or a building.
