Hey Hogs,
Does anyone know if the Nikon teleconverters work with the Nikor 200mm-400mm lens without any limitations. I'm getting different information from Nikon and B&H.
Thanks
Thanks MT Shooter,
Do you know if there is another brand that has the 1.7 ratio that would work with auto focus?
I would like a little more magnification.
Rob
The 200-400mm lens is an F4 lens and the 1.7x MAY AF in bright sunlight. It is the limitations of the camera that do not allow AF. F8 is often the cut-off for AF with any lens. And F4 with a 1.7x yields an F6.8, I am betting it would AF on the newer D4, D800 and D600 bodies. I know of no aftermarket 1.7x, its kind of a Nikon piece.

For your lens, only the TC-14E ll will have no limitations.
When I clicked on your link, a window popped up from Adobe saying that it detected my first use of their something-or-other. It then took me through several screens to set my preferences. Interesting.
I have used the Nikon 1.4, 1.7 and 2x TC with my 500 F4 lens without any problems. Rent one and try it out

Did the TC 1.7 and 2X auto focused with your 500 f4?
I have both the lens and the 2x teleconvertor TC-20E III. Autofocus works O.K. with both Nikon D3s and D800E.
Hey Hogs,
Just rented the TC-17E. I'll test it out and post my results.
Thanks for all the help.
