While returning from a western trip in January, we were driving thru Dulce (Dul-cee) in Northern NM and came upon these abandoned RR cars in the middle of town. Looks like the remnants of narrow gage stock cars from the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. Its apparent from their condition, they've been there for quite a long time.

What's a rarity is there is no graffiti on these cars....

You see quite a few of these here in Montana. Homesteaders, Farmers, Ranchers would buy used ones nearing end of service from the Railroad for short term shelter, stables, storage etc.

Excellent photo. Just love the old things that have been well used and now weathered. Mahalo for sharing.

Blaster, Dulce is a remote community and is bordering Jicarilla the Apache Nation. The Apaches are smarter than to degrade their heritage with the likes of graffiti.
