Welcome to the forum.

No one knows when it will fail,
but at some point it will.

Will you repair it or get a new camera?
If get a new camera, do you want it available when this one quits?

Or you could send it out for a new shutter before it quits.

What makes you feel most comfortable?

Extremely well answered

1) Use the camera you have. Failure of the shutter may not give any clue it is about to fail.
2) If you are planning a 'once in a lifetime' event or trip, look at a low shutter activation count used camera or a new one if it somehow justified paying the extra money.

I went on a trip with a single camera body and a few lenses. Wanted to travel light on my honeymoon! Two days into the trip, the camera shutter died. Memories lost! -

One of my first bosses told me, "Don't be afraid to make mistakes. But don't make the same mistake a second time."

Now, I travel with 2 camera bodies and an array of lenses.

Mistakes are the best teachers. You really remember them.
I have doubled a few mistakes. It happens, but you really get your fool status emphasized that way.

I plan to make more mistakes, but singulate them.

Hey Marsha, alas, Nikon did not "guarantee" any specific shutter count life. Rather, they provided a "rating" as in a minimum expected life. Your camera may last another 170,000, another 500,000, or another 20. No one can say for sure. Don't worry about replacing a camera based on an expected life until the camera actually develops a problem.

A very thoughtful answer.

Hi ,I'm Marsha from West Virginia . I've been on Ugly hedgehog for awhile but never posted until now . I have a Nikon D7200 and I use it mainly for wildlife,my grandchildren and their sporting events . My question is the Shutter count is 176,550 . It is still working great .should I be looking at replacing the camera ? The manufacturer guarantee is shutter count of 150,000 . I know one day it will just stop.

Eventually we’ll all stop. But that doesn’t stop us from enjoying life. Use and enjoy your fine camera till it stops working. I wouldn’t hire out to do weddings or other paid jobs with a 176,000 shutter count camera but then again I would want a backup no matter the shutter count. Best wishes, Ron

I'm going to keep shooting . You mentioned the D500 would that be a good replacement when the time comes or would a full frame be wise ?

Yes, check out a low Shutter count Used D7200 as a Backup camera, it will be there if your's finally quits. I have a Used D3300 for 3 years now, not Sure of the Shutter count, it has been lightly used, and I am hoping it will last longer than I do.😂🙋‍♂️
