We left Connecticut in 2011. Taxes and fiscal irresponsibility aside, one of the reasons was vulnerability during hurricanes. What makes parts of CT particularly beautiful, i.e. the forested areas are not well managed IMHO. The trees grow fast and don't have well established root structs and during storms, a few always came down taking power lines with them. The last 3 years we lived there, we endured 1 rather major and 2 small hurricanes. One knocked out power for about two weeks. Thank goodness for Honda generators. We had a March rain on frozen ground where about 6" was dumped on us in a short period of time that flooded my basement the only time. That said, I still liked Connecticut and the access it affords to beautiful regions in NE.
