Two fathers and two sons sat down to eat eggs for breakfast. They ate exactly three eggs, each person had an egg. How do you explain this?

And there had to have been three fathers and two sons. After all, the grandfather was also the son of someone.

Easy,, one of the eggs was a double yolker. Us country folk try to keep things simple. Yeah there is such a thing as twin chickens.

There were only 3 people-two sons and 1 father. The boys had the same father but a different mother.

Yes, but at the breakfast table he was not playing the role of son. (If you saw a wedding picture, you would say "This is the bride and groom." You would not say "This is someone's son and daughter."

But the double yolker was still ONE egg, wasn't it? And each person had an egg.

Both fathers are, of course, also sons. One had 2 eggs, the other only one.

"They ate exactly three eggs, each person had an egg." Three eggs, three people.

I should have been clearer. Three generations. For example: My father, myself and my son. Three people. Two fathers and two sons. Technically three sons and my son is a father. But, for this purpose.....

um... no. two fathers and three sons. There's no guarantee that the youngest son is also a father (but the oldest father is also a son)
