Sitting on the back porch a short time ago, my wife informed me that it was International Cat Day. Our two Persian sisters must have heard her say so. They began posing saying take our pictures! They are true sisters but two totally different cats. Using my M50 with EF 28-80 lens, here are the results. These two are really great companions!

Lovely Cats! Lily, our Abyssinian, says that the girls should get together at our house for catnip and a little hunt - I’m having live mice delivered and released into my house for the cat’s enjoyment in honor of the day 😈.

The pet store I managed sold mice and rats and once a month this one woman would purchase a mouse for her cat to play with and eat. The vet had informed her that a mouse is 100% nutritionally complete.

My cats will have to suffer along with expensive cat foods; there will be no mice on their menus.

Mine either Dodie (it was a joke). We had an Abby some years ago that was afflicted with the GI issues peculiar to that breed. Our vet, who is very well trained and experienced, suggested we try one of the companies that sells carefully processed raw food, so we ordered a trial box. Our cat took one look and walked away in disgust.

I knew you were kidding but wanted to share that there are some that do feed mice. As you well know, cats, like people, don't eat everything put in front of them. That's why I have 4 gravity feeders, each with a different dry food and there are 9 different canned foods for the toothless crowd. I also use a dehydrated (you add water when you feed it) food that I rotate in for the toothless ones. I definitely hold the title of staff in this house. Ha ha!

Dodie, since you’re clearly a “cat person” (and all that implies), I’ll bet you have researched both wet and dry food. Besides special needs food, can you recommend brands please? We used Royal Canin PR for our old Abby (we have had Abby’s for 40 years), but this 1 year old girl still has all her teeth, and I would be very interested in your recommendations. Thanks in advance for any advice

Cheers.
