Captioning pictures in Lightroom 6

I use Lightroom 6 for most of my photo editing (the newer subscription versions will not run on my computer which has Windows 8.1). I also have PSE. A few of us (family members) are creating an album of Jackson Hole wildflowers and want to put the flowers' identity on the pictures. Is there an easy way to add captions in Lightroom 6?

Easy? No. You can try watermarks and maybe some dynamic text from the file names or keywords. I can envision some ideas that might work. But, even if technically possible, those ideas inside LR alone would fail the 'easy' requirement.

PSE is the much easier approach.

Given I have the same tools, I'd do the following:

1. Edit all images to completion in LR.

2. Export the images at the full pixel resolution to a work folder as JPEG, renaming the files during Export to distinguish the files from the originals.

3. Drag all the export images into PSE and add text captures individually using the horizontal text tool. Save each updated image as completed, overwriting the LR export version.

4. Import all the captioned images into LR for resizing and final distribution for use in the album. If you have the captioned images in the same folder at the original, you can auto-stack the files so LR tracks both versions, but you 'see' only the captioned version.

At step 2, I'm assuming there's a large quantity, say 10+. You can also define PSE as an external editor from LR6 and edit the images 1 by 1, passing the file as a PSD or 16-bit Tiff to PSE. Given the 'easy' need, I find the mass export to be easier and more efficient for this type of exercise.

CHG CANON:
Thank you so much. As usual, your advice is straight forward and simple to follow. You should really be writing instruction manuals.
