Brazilian, T back, and no Brazilian T back, but, always, the snaky-snake.

Check out jaymat's quote from W. Taft. I think he was quoting Taft for your benefit, not mine. Of course jay smack is lost in history, stuck in the period of thinking he is a Roman Emperor. Gee, I wish there was some real communication, that would be so interesting, but ok, on to emoticons as a 'language' base.

My mind goes to the snake. Historically the snake involves so Much, much symbolism that the pictures could say, possibly, thousands of different things to different observers (hundreds if not tens may be involved.) As a 16 year kid I nearly picked up a 6 foot cobra thinking it was a harmless water snake in which case I wouldn't be here a now confirmed curmudgeon. When it reared up and spread it's hook I set an olympic record for the rear, standing long jump. Managed to hold on to my butterfly net that had him pinned down in the middle. Bad dreams you have just revived.

Ok. Beyond the obvious self based ideas about what you think you are seeing any actual observations, ideas, general or specific thoughts?

To those that are literalists, you do know there is this post processing 'thing' called Photoshop, right? Well, if you are at all adept at using the clone tool and actually plan your lighting (yes, I really do), one can create shadows in areas of an image, then, gosh darn one can restructure information and alter the digital image so that the shadow obscures flesh and plastic, blending the two into a non descript singular are with in a shadow.

Of course there is that 'planning' thing in studio work where you look and think, "Gosh, the flexible plastic covered imitation snake could be 'cut' in half, well shucks I guess I can do that! Oh look, about half the way down the silly snake are the screws that join the two halves togeather! Why don't I just take my 00 size Philips screw driver and disassemble that snake and make my life easy in post production!" So I took my internal dialogue advice and did just that! Gosh, I guess I'm not as dumb as these posters seem to be!

Sorry, did not mean to imply that there is idiocy going on here. I don't need to imply that it is quite latterly true. You see there is an expectation from my side when I post an images or image set that I will receive some intelligent reciprocation from viewers. As the viewer you are not required to make a comment, you can just shake your head, giggle, show a frown and all that Jazz. But if one does respond, well it is an expectation that you have something to say. But as we all know to well, one gets atta-boys in the negative or positive because some how along the history of The Hog the lazy trolls decided that it would be the norm.

Me, I take this all seriously, even if the majority do not. So, what I am say and hopping is that some viewers might just offer some comment or critique that is Germain to the posted work. Yes, I stir the pot, but that's because I am not doing this for shock, I'm doing my work seriously. Gosh, Tim, you don't do girly pictures? No, I don't, I can get all the girly snaps I want from the internet and they are free and by the ton load!

If only your photos weren’t so tawdry . . . .
By the way, it’s pretty obvious that others share my opinion of your work.

You can find your local herpetology group and "borrow" a real, but reasonably harmless snake - say a ball pythong.. Would have added, i think, to the shot

Come on Timber's--it was my actual observation! And furthermore it was an explanation that I believe that the emotional response to the whole image is what the image should be about. No, not all of us will see the same thing if we are honest. Jaded as I am by a youth spent with book thumping parents, the idea of the serpent as a symbol of desire and the beautiful woman, as the same, that is one response. Sixty years I no longer have to bear that shame!!! The other response is shivers up and down my spine for the reasons stated above and no the ball python does not have the fangs that hang out and which I saw so clearly and still see in my dreams so that is a visceral response. Again the desire thingy, we were a bunch of "nature guys" and WANTED that specimen!

Yeah, I do that Photoshop thing and I agree the planning can save a lot of Post process grief and you do it well.

Snakes are great props, and carry deep subconscious undertones. The shots are sexy and imaginative, and obviously not everyone's cup of tea. Do you have any shots to share featuring lively serpents?

My mind goes to the snake. Historically the snake... (show quote)

Thanks Vert for speaking about your encounter with a king cobra. Interesting find for a young lad!

Well there is a lot that can be said for the snake imagery. I have a vary clear idea of the symbolism that a slither has. But I will leave it right where it is and not heap a lot of interpretative meaning for the critter, lets see if anyone actually has something to say about these images.
