Beautiful, Jim! Clouds, light inter-play, foreground -- everything.

Thanks for sharing that great view while you were driving home.
Great color, and composition.

I bet you are late for dinner a lot. I would never get tired of stopping to look from any drive home to Moab.

Its on the west side of the town of Moab, UT. Technically, the street is '500 West' (yes, I goofed when I wrote "4th West"; only lived here 30 years so there are a few things I haven't quite committed to memory yet), but most of us just call it 5th West. The view was shot from, what? a couple hundred feet past the stop sign where it meets up with Kane Creek Boulevard (boulevard! woo-hoo! that sounds high-fallutin', doesn't it???), a stone's toss from the driveway into Zane's (for the sake of privacy, I won't mention Zane's last name....) place. Those 'in the know,' (i.e., locals) use the 5th West -to- Kane Creek route as a way to bypass the traffic and weirdness on Main St (Hwy 191) through the center of town, and believe me, in tourorist season [Feb-Nov], it does get weird at times. From where I live, if I'm driving, there's no way I can avoid either crossing 5th West or driving north or south on it, which really isn't all that bad. Most of my decisions as to which way I'll go when I want to go out shooting have been made at the stop sign where my street hits 5th; its open enough that I can see up and down Moab Valley sufficiently to see which way the sky might look more interesting. Otherwise, if you live 'in town,' you live in a valley surrounded by cliffs; its like living in a hole that only allows you to look 'up,' and not so much 'out.'

The view itself is looking more or less northerly. Beyond the line of trees (which line Kane Creek and hide several streets worth of residences the other side of them) is a section of the cliffs on the Moab side of the Colorado River. Everything left of those 'foreground' cliffs (about 2 miles away) is the other side of the river, and is Arches National Park.

Despite the fact I see this view practically every day and know how good it can sometimes look, I don't know that I'd suggest anybody put it on their bucket list. There are better views within a few minutes drive.

Thank you for sharing. What makes me sick is how many times I've thru Utah -- Ogden being a port -- and I've never been in that part.

Strikingly beautiful! And I'm sick with myself for not experiencing it.

You bet, Craig. Otherwise, it seems that you and I are at a similar disadvantage: you haven't been through Moab and I haven't been through Ogden.

Jim, When I open this image up, it looks like it belongs on a wall in a very large size. Outstanding! And from in town. Thanks for sharing.
