An unposed portrait

Some time ago I posted a shot and asked if it was a portrait. Some long discussion ensued as to whether a portrait should be posed or not. Well, this is (I think) a portrait that was not posed, it was an informal snap.

Sorry, as a non-photographer I can't give details of apeture etc. All I can say is that it was taken wth my first digital camera, an Olympus 5050.

Of course it's a portrait and a pretty good one. The word Portrait has a very broad definition, btw.

Delightfully attractive woman.

With that being written, this photograph constitutes a portrait. It doesn’t need a specific pose , lighting, shading or even a Unique angle or pitch. When a portrait appears natural it lends itself to that photographer placing the subject at ease. This is true talent.

Happy Shooting!

Not bad at all. Your camera is already 18 years old. Who said modern technology takes pictures?
Consider the so called "portrait orientation" when shooting a portrait. Also consider the 1:1 aspect ratio when editing, if you are familiar on how to edit a photograph. All of that improves the quality of the portrait.
For busy backgrounds and if you have the facility in your camera open the lens to maximum aperture to make the subject "pop."

If you are new to digital ignore me, I do not want to confuse you. What you are doing right now is fine.

I agree with everyone else here that this is a fine portrait (& the subject should agree too).
