Strange looking Cardinal

First of all, I apologize for the quality of this photo; I took it through a bedroom window. But the bird really caught my attention when I saw the area around its eyes. Is there something wrong with the bird, or is this an immature male Cardinal?

It is just a male Cardinal going in molt.
They will lose all the fine feathers but wing feathers just one at time some that they can fly.
There is dozen here in South Dakota now.
