Very nice - my respect goes out to all those that flew and/or rode them!

That is a wonderful memorial. Well done. I flew all of those except for the UH-19. Sure brings back memories. Thanks for sharing.

That was what I felt my mission was over there. One of my fondest resupply missions was this time we were sent to pick up a huge pallet of mixed brands of beer and sling load it to a company of grunts who had just come out of the boonies after nearly 10 days. So we brought it in with the CH-47, and these guys were overjoyed to see all that beer. I’m sure it was a bit of heaven to them even though it was warm.

In my opinion the H-19 was one miserable beast. Physically hard to fly but probably a great trainer. The collective was always making your left arm tired and sore. At Rucker on a hot day in many of the C models you had to make a running takeoff and burn fuel before it would hover. Never did understand how they needed the big cargo area it had as I don't think you could have got it off the ground loaded. The D model while still hard to fly did have a decent amount of power. I absolutely hated the C model.

By the time I got to Rucker in ‘68 they’d gotten rid of the H-19’s, and we were transitioning into the Huey’s. My opinion of the A-model Huey was that it didn’t have a lot of power, either. Then we were amazed at the D models, but the H models in Vietnam were “it.” Great helicopter.

Thanks man....you guys were the bravest & the best in a war that nobody cared for nor celebrated. Our Warrant Officers were my Go -To guys and the best trained in the world as far as I was concerned. They took good care of me and I will never forget their kindness and noble deeds.
