Odds and ends from my Archive of Olde. The piece of black fabric seems to have been a popular item!

All kidding aside, where did one ever find such an unoccupied beach for the taking of such photographs? I know they weren’t taken just yesterday - still.

Jim,

I’ve been enjoying your work for quite awhile. As a friend and student of Ruth Burnhard’s in the late 60’s you’re images take me back to those good old days, fooling around in her darkroom
🤗🤩,

I keep wondering, where was the beach that you used as your studio? It looks a bit like Pfiefer Beach at Big Sur. Memories, memories, thanks for them!!

Supremo: Black's Beach in San Diego and More Mesa in Santa Barbara. The latter was shut down I understand after I left the area. Real estate developers? Dunno. Quite a shame. Was a fun place for hundreds of folks every weekend. Sometimes as many as a thousand people at a time. Photos were typically taken at the ends of these two beaches. I got to know lots of "candidates" over a several year period. -JimT

Jim: neat shots, interesting and good work. I, like many others, appreciated them.
