This train system is called "1880 Train".
It runs from Hill City, South Dakota to Keystone, SD. It's about a 10 mile run at abut 10-15 mph.
This engine is different than what I've seen as there is no tender attached. The blue saddle tanks are the water tanks and there is a tank attached behind cab to hold fuel oil.
We only chased this train.
The red & black engine is used as well. Just not on this day.
Hill City, SD is in the area of Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse Monuments and Rapid City.

Great looking photos Pat...Nice job
Wonderful and fun images. Who doesn't love old trains.
Good shots of that classic train.
Nothing like the sound, smell,of a old steam train chugging down the tracks.
Number 4 looks like a, Bell of the 80's. Is it real or a recreation?

My home town!! Still own the family ranch west of town. Going there this coming weekend after the Black Hills Photo Shootout.
Thanks for the great photos. Photos aren't always easy to get there depending on lighting and people in the way. Tourism will probably love you.
