We got a whole series of this guy. Anyone know what's going on with this Alligator? Tony? Anybody?

If you mean "why does it lie with its mouth open", here's an explanation from the Vancouver Zoo:

Why do alligators and crocodiles often sit with their mouths open? This behaviour is called gaping and is done when the crocodilian is basking in the sun. Experts think that this may cool the crocodilian. However they also do this during rain and at night which suggests that gaping has a social function as well.

From the download zoomed, I'd say he "bit off more than he can chew" or swallow. Just what, who knows.

Thanks, DebAnn. But what I was talking about, you might have to use download to see it, is the huge white thing that looks too big to swallow. It has tears in it from teeth. Usually gators tear off parts that they can swallow. But this guy was acting very strangely. In the second photo he put his head up on the bank like he was resting and just laid there with his mouth open I can't tell if it's something he is trying to eat or if it's part of him, like a float bladder or something.

Yeah, maybe QD. But it doesn't look normal to me. (see my previous response).

I can't tell for sure from these images but I would say it is not normal behaviour. Maybe something regurgitated that he hasn't completely gotten rid of?

Could be, Ken. He was just laying with his head resting on the bank not trying to swallow or trying to get rid of it. Thanks.

Uh Oh. Did I miss-spell something again? I hate it when that happens! I'm surprised spell check didn't catch it.
Thanks.

It looks like an old gallon plastic jug Like bleach comes in, big end in his throat, cap end pointing out and a little chewed up. If that's it I hope it's not stuck. Some people use those for jug fishing as a float holding a bait below. Being white he may have struck it from below thinking it was a bird and got it stuck in his mouth.
