I'm looking for an inexpensive flash for my new Nikon Df. I'll be shooting manually (no auto-focus, auto-exposure, etc.) with my 1970s analog lenses.
I'm planning to use the flash mainly as a fill light for macro and close-up photography with a tripod. But I may occasionally use it as a main light, on- or off-camera.
I've read good reviews on the Godox flashes, so I'm looking at either the TT350N Mini Thinklite TTL Flash ($85 at B&H) or the TT600 Thinklite Flash ($59 B&H).
I'm looking forward to your comments and suggestions.
if you are going to do macro photography or close up photography, you may need a ring flash and you need to find out whether Godox makes ring flash.good luck.
I thought a flash used for fill-in was a main light.
I use one of the little Godox flashes with my Olympus bodies. It does not have a lot of power but it does the job. Most probably such a little flash will be ideal for fill-in with your camera. The TT600 I have never used but from the specs it seems a better flash for off camera use.

I have a Godox TT600 flash that I use on my Nikon D500 to use for macro and close up shots. It's a manual flash which I like and works as expected. Recently I wanted to use it as an off camera flash so I needed to buy a Godox wireless flash trigger, which I haven't used yet. There are many opinions about ring lights for macro. Some like it and others don't. After reading more about the ring lights I decided against it and will use a flash on and off camera.

So many people see the “macro” label on a ringlight and think that must be the thing to use. Many do not know it was made for shooting Intraoral photos...inside the mouth. (Look up
Lester Dine) The nearly axial lighting helps when shooting inside what’s basically a hole.
You wind up with flat lighting.
It can be used for other macro, but there’s almost always a better solution using a standard flash off -camera.
Be aware the mess of name brand (I have a Sony flash) and Godox triggers and flashes.
Some work with each other many don't. It is very much a mess. That said the recent flashes
from China are great for the price. I suggest shooting manual and adjusting test till you
have the look you want. China, South Korea have made great gear in the last few years.
I couldn't afford cine lens so i bought Rokinon 4 different fields. Very affordable.
i have a Godox (I believe) the 200 self contained power flash that you can hand hold
or have an assistant for just put anywhere and strobe powerfully.
Good luck.
