I am sorry to hear about your health. I live a couple hours from Charlotte and if I had the money I would totally grab the 85. That is the next lens on my mist have list lol. Unfortunately that is not in my budget at the moment.

The 20-35mm f2.8 is a very nice lens. It is a D lens, not G. Sort of forgotten over time but an outstanding wide angle zoon.
