Not sure where this might go, Macro or here; but has anyone had experience with the 77mm NiSi close up lens? The last discussion I found here was about 2016, and I hope there is more hands-on information than back then.

A few on line photogs have done short reviews of the NiSi...positive, and Canon's lens has been around almost forever, no real questions about its quality. It is a bit more expen$ive, tho. Adorama/Bryan Peterson has good things to say about it

I have a good Tokina 100 mm Macro lens, but I was wondering if this little device, or the Canon 500D would be a good addition to my bag for the 70-300 zoom, when I didn't want to schlep my macro lens with. It seems to be rather pricey at $139, but a place called AliExpress has them for $98 USD. I ordered a $13 flashlight from them one year, but am a little concerned about their service.

Advice? Recommendations?

I'd add the Extension tube EF 25 II. They work with most any EF / EF-S lens with no additional glass, letting you shoot a lot closer to subject for macro / close-up usage. I have both the EF 25 and EF 12 and rarely leave the house without them, just in case.

Sorry, I took the reference to the Canon close-up as being applicable to Canon lenses. I believe Nikon does not have the same product that pass complete electronic control between the camera and lens for metering, aperture control and autofocus. I've used the Kenko tubes with Nikon equipment in the long ago past. They're not a sturdy as the Canon models, but work in every way otherwise, and being cheaper. Check the detailed product descriptions and the Q&A and comments to assure you're getting the correct models for your equipment.

Go with extension tubes, they have auto focus and manual focus for Nikon., just a tip, try to use them with prime lenses.

I have and use the Canon 500D on my 300mm f/4L and 400mm f/5.6L with very satisfactory results. Also have satisfying photos with the EF extension tubes on those lenses.
