The real problem is human nature. From what I have read, older archers don't like the new (relatively) super bows which are TOO easy to use, amateur radio operators don't like the new license which does not require knowing morse code, some amareur astronomers don't like the newer goto scopes which require no knowledge of anything beyond how to level a tripod and use a cell phone in some cases. Many of us hate change, need to feel special, etc., etc.

I know a lot of other people, too.
Bows? New 50s HAVE to pull to 50- else they don't work right. That old 50 also works at 30, 0r 40.
Part of radio guys is being helpful and available in emergencies. No mike? Morse. No Morse- useless. Toys
My brother was starstuck. Knows the constellations- American,Alaskan, Southern- and the stories for them.
He can point them out and explain them by just looking up. Can these cell phone guys do that?
Same with cameras.
I bring out my modified Kodak Signature using 120 film making 6x7 negatives. Oohs and ahhs. EXCEPT ..
The iPhone guys NEED to explain how much more useful it is to have a phone like that to take pictures.
Googlespurts abound. See you, look it up, and for 20 seconds they can recite a disparaging opinion.
"Is that a ~gasp~ D80?" "Is that Iskra ~groan~ a film camera?" Drama- as long as they have an audience.
I told you guys about getting my niece an Instax Wide? She loves it. Take a picture- have a picture. Now!
Smallish family wedding- got "old man" crap for bringing a dozen "disposable" cameras. Got 10 back!
Made double prints, and the happy couple got a full set in a "olde" style wedding album binder.
