I marveled at the incredible pics on your Flickr site. How do you get such detailed magnification? Did you use a different kind of lens + focus stack with a still subject? Now my curiosity and interest have really been piqued!

I would venture a guess that many of us handheld shooters, started out with tripods and had limited success at the number of keepers, once I moved to handheld the statistics changed in a good way, as has been suggested and I agree, that your shots here are a good omen that your serious about it and practice is your main source of success to come

a flash is then the next gear that took it up a notch for me, hang in there your on your way

Thanks for the suggestions. Macro of little critters are incredible fun. They don't talk back. One of these days I'm going to see what I can do with flash and hand made reflectors/diffusers rather than a ring light.
