I noticed a bright star last night as I talked to my son. He told me it was Jupiter. It has 5 moons I am told. I got 4 of them and will try again and see if I can get all 5. I also got a shot of the comet.
What in the world ae you using to get a shot of four of Jupiter's moons? Something on a tripod that's for sure.
Super shots - nice one of the comet
Jupiter's has many moons. the 4 you ser are call Galloway moons
what was exposure f stop speed iso camera lens mm.
you must have very dark skies. I've been trying for few days but im close to ocean humidity and heat for week.
thanks for info.
I am pretty new at this and experimenting. ORpilot has been helping me. I have a Samyang 500mm lens that i got off ebay and a D3500 Nikon. I turned up the ISO and had to back way off the shutter to get that bright planet. My son is kind of into astronomy and told me that I could probably see the moons with my binoculars which I did. I would have thought it was refraction had he not told me. Set up the camera and lucked out on the 4 moons. Now I gotta try for 5. Thanks for the compliment. I have a 600 mm Sigma lens but it seems like I need a fuzz more adjustment to focus and the 500 does pretty well. Just learning but I was pretty excited to get that shot of Jupiter. The tripod is a Bosch that I got on sale at High School Pharmacy to 25 bucks. I like it. I used a 2 second delay to get it stable and just shot it.
That is a 500mm Samyang. I have a 600mm Sigma but it ends up just short of focus for some reason. The ISO was at 25600. I don't remember the shutter. I think around 1.2 seconds. I had been turning it down as the planet is soo bright. I wish I had turned it down one or two more steps but pretty happy with the picture. The F stop is still over my head and the camera does it automatically. ORpilot has to give me that tutor some time. I was pretty thrilled to get some pics like that of Jupiter as that was the kind of picture I bought the camera for. I am going to try again tonight. Comet is suppose to be best tonight and tomorrow. We are on a farm in Oregon and had reasonably light free if we turn our lights out. I have taken comet pictures most recent nights. I had tried planets before but couldn't get the focus down. Jupiter was bright enough to focus last night and I am assuming again tonight. I shot Saturn also but it was just a white spot. I may try the 600 on it and see if I can get it in focus. Looking at a 1600 mm.
Are you sure you're not referring to The Galilean Moons?

yes was in to big of rush to check spelling. been working on comet photos.. Very hard in Nj If you look on line you can see the moons are in different positions as their orbits differ. Its really cool in a telescope you can see a shadow when it crosses the face. Then see them disappear as they circle behind moon.
I just took some more but only had 3 moons tonight. I am going to shoot the comet in a bit. I am in the Willamette Valley on a farm. Not as good as Eastern Oregon in the desert but pretty good as I on the farm.
Good shot! I think the 4 "Galilean" moons are all you'll get without a longer lens. They got that name because they were the ones that Galileo saw with his crude telescope.
it's fun to see the moons dance around the planet
I was trying to get a picture of the comet Sat. night and saw Jupiter and some of its moons. Never got my pictures of the comet. It was too light and hazy.
Jupiter has 79 known moons ..... it’s crowded out there.
