What I take issue with, is your statement that this is "the" picture of some tomatoes. I maintain that there exists more than one picture of tomatoes.

Of course you all know that Tomatoes and Potatoes are both solinaceous plants and are related. I believe (although I haven't tried it) that you can graft them together and get both tubers and above ground fruit. So it's entirely possible that these are a photo (not THE photo) of tomato tubers.
