Cinnabar moth cats

The moths were imported to deal with the invasive Tansy ragwort.

And a future what? A snakefly, Lacewing? The bees & flies have made a mess of the flower & this little guy kept working the perimeter & digging in, except for a brief sojourn out on a petal where I caught him.

Probably a nearly ready to pupate lacewing.
It is seemingly large, and could be a 'Giant Lacewing', Polystoechòtidae, but not likely, extremely rare.
Well shot.

Thanks Bill. It's about 1cm long. Not all that large, the flowers are small ones.

If things never changed, there would be no butterflies.

Great captures!

Very, very well done. I've yet to see a caterpillar like yours so thanks for sharing.

Very nice! It does look like a lacewing larva, but I don't know what snakefly larvae look like.

Like that only skinnier. I found this photo on Wikipedia so I guess it's in the public domain.
Looks like Lacewing is probably the proper ID.

That's 'large' in Lacewing larva. They may get 1.5cm, but not often. Adults all wing, not much body.
